what happened this week in michigan is exactly why people feel that way. the republican party in the capitals of our states and our nation are ignoring the voice of the people. and the people know it. and this is why the current g.o.p. will fail. maybe not today. maybe not in michigan. but soon we're going to make that voice loud enough to knock them down. up next, it is the will of the people that all television programs must air year in review highlight shows. brett ehrlich at first said no to this but alas, his will has been broken. i should say at last. he is next right here in "the war room." the small business card by chase. make your mark with ink. >> my name is hunter landers i'm president/founder of big fish wines, we're a boutique california winery, we source our grapes from vineyards all across the state, then make the wine in small vats. i got into the wine making business primarily to just learn how to make wine. just a hobby. i really enjoy sharing it with friends and family and decided to turn it into a business. i've done some financing and

one of the paths was actually shown in michigan -- your own home state. so you have a very republican governor there and the nra was on the path to pass two really bad bills, one would eliminate background checks for concealed weapons, and the second would allow concealed carrying in places like day cares and schoolyards. and in a matter of weeks the nra had both of those initiatives completely reversed. we beat them on the first one, after the connecticut shootings the governor vetoed the bill and he should have. so the nra is on its heels at this point. >> jennifer: this weekend there were some successful gun buybacks in camden and san francisco and oakland. does your organization push for programs like those that -- where you don't have to worry about getting republican votes? >> we don't take a position on that kind of local policy. but new york city has gun buybacks and we found them to be one good tool. but in new york city we are the safest big city in the country, and have relatively few murders per capita and one reason is we have some of the str

but this is not just about michigan. michigan has been passing some crazy bills these last few weeks, but this is much broader. alec's legislation has been used across the country to weaken gun laws. since 2009, 99-nra-backed alec laws have passed in 36 states. all of those states are states where alec-backed gun legislation has passed. and as a result gun safety laws across the country have gotten incredibly watered down. in arizona you need a permit to cut hair but not to carry a concealed. in mississippi concealed weapons permits last longer than driver's licenses. iowa it's easier to sell a gun than lemonade. in arkansas it takes less time to buy a gun than to qualify for food stamps. not only do we have weaker gun laws than other countries, we have significantly more guns than any other place on the planet. look at this chart. those little yellow dots are the number of runs that are in all of those countries, all of those advanced industrialized nations, and there are 270 million privately owned firearms in the unit
